Douglas2011v2Douglas Hansen, the principal author of the Code Check series of field guides to building codeswill host a discussion about gas appliance caps and flues. Discussion will focus on universal vent cap/ roof flashings such as “art’s code cap”. These combo vent cap and roof flashings are usually installed incorrectly, but some wonder how great a risk they really pose. Join us for a lively discussion and a great educational opportunity with Mr. Hansen. This training is FREE to those attending the Chapter Business & Education meetings.

Buffet Dinner — 6:50 pm

The Pyramid Alehouse buffet dinner includes three entree choices and we suggest arriving early to ensure the best selection. Please keep in mind the buffet is NOT endless or all-you-can-eat and GGASHI regrets that we cannot provide dinner for same day registrants or walk ups.

Chapter president, John Fryer, presides as Members discuss Chapter news as well as local and national home inspection matters. This meeting is open to all (including non-members) and guests are welcome with questions, or to simply learn more about the home inspection profession.

Educational Presentation — 7:45 to 9:00 pm

Rodents & Vermingopher2

Steve Hebert entered the field of pest control in the small town of Chugwater, Wyoming. Chugwater’s large grain silos were used by Coors brewing and local farmers alike and keeping the grain free from insects and rodents was a significant concern.

Steve moved to the Bay Area in September 1980.  He worked Branch II, Agricultural and Vertebrate work until February 1994 for two different Pest Control companies here in the Bay Area.

In 1994 Steve started Swat Pest Control.  He has specialized in Branch II, AG A&B and is currently licensed with the Department of Fish and Wildlife Services for trapping nuisance wildlife.

Steve has made several presentations on his work in this field and has recently spoken to the Silicon Valley ASHI/ CREIA Chapter.
