Educational Presentation — 7:45 to 9:00 pm

Tom Mitchell, past Chapter President and current GGASHI Fellow, will talk about his post-inspection career of buying and rehabilitating buildings to bring them to market as rental properties.  He will talk about the process of choosing the building, and what types of buildings he prefers; negotiating and financing the purchase; negotiating with tenants, buy-outs, and other legal matters; what to fix in the buildings and why; and, generally, utilizing his vast experience and knowledge as an inspector to develop a post-inspection career.

Tom Mitchell is owner of Bay Area Building Inspections, Inc., and has performed some 8,000 inspections in San Francisco.  He was GGASHI President from 1996-1998, and was awarded “Inspector of the Year” by the Chapter members in 1996. He is a long-time general contractor and developer in the Bay Area.

Lee Parsons, Chapter Vice President, will discuss findings from recent inspections.

Report Writing and Business Meeting — 6:45 to 7:45 pm

Chapter President, Brian Cogley, presides as chapter members discuss Chapter news as well as local and national home inspection matters. This meeting is open to all (including non-members) and guests are welcome with questions, or to simply learn more about the home inspection profession. Brian will also lead a discussion of member submitted comments on photos from the field focusing on clarity and Report Writing principles of Identification, Implication, and Recommendation.

Registration and Fees
  • $45 with pre-registration
  • $55 “at the door”
